Virtually on a daily basis, I am asked whether I have any good cars in at around the £1k mark – well I have – and in the words of the late Frank Carson – “It’s a cracker!”

I don’t collect too many cars myself nowadays but as this one was at a Skoda Main Dealer in Cheshire just down the road from Cheshire Oaks I decided my wife could drop me off and then go and do some shopping.

I have had a fair number of cars from this dealer and when the contact described it as a “very well cared for car inside and out” I thought I would go and take a look. He was spot-on. Not only is it in well above average condition, on the drive back down the M56, it ran like a Swiss watch.

I have always loved the Ghia mark, going right back to my Escort Mark 2 days. The last owner had this since 2015 and says it has been regularly serviced – unfortunately, there is no service book to back this up BUT this is of no consequence as we will be carrying out our own Service and 12 Month MOT.

At the asking price, I will even replace the Cambelt kit!

There will undoubtedly be cheaper ones around – but you get what you pay for AND as my late Dad used to say – remember son – “Old Fords never die – they just go faster!”
