I realise this may come as a shock to some of you but I am well into my 60s! Yes, I realise this does not appear obvious from my youthful looks although some people have commented I seemed much taller when I was younger – people can be very cruel.

Having worked pretty well non-stop over the last 53 years it is only in the last year or so that working 6 days a week has started to catch up with me – so much so that I have decided to cut back to only 5 and close the garage and take the weekends off. This will give me more time to build dens and castles with my grandchildren using the sofa cushions – I even do this when they are not there.

Now I realise this is far from ideal for a business that as part of its activities sells cars AND the truth is I have attempted to persuade others to take over- but alas it is not for them and I have no desire to attempt to force anyone to do something they do not wish to do – that would be counter-productive and I respect their decision.

To help offset this we shall be open earlier in the morning Monday to Friday – starting at 7.30 for those who wish to drop cars off earlier. In addition, should any customer wish to inspect – view and or test drive a sales car at the end of a day I would be glad to try and stay behind to accommodate them.

As a small business, it is obvious we cannot be all things to all men but at the same time I understand we now live in a 24/7 world – nevertheless I would hope that the quality of service and product we offer will remain of appeal even if we only open 5 days a week.
